Who has the best and worst fixtures on the run up to Christmas?

HOLY MOLY Look at the fixture difficulty…

Each team will play a whopping 7 games in December and 5 before Christmas Day and it is crucial that as the fixtures come around quick to be prepared for all. With a large majority of users already using their wildcards, key transfers for the future could be the difference to being on the receiving end of a load of banter off your mates over Christmas or the one dishing it out.

If you view our Fixture difficulty index it ranks teams in a list of games (ranked by FPL) for 1, 3, 5, 10 and all season future gameweeks.

In this instance, we want to be looking to get an edge on our rivals before Christmas day. We want to be prepared up until Gameweek 19 at least. So toggle the 5 week game week on the page and have a look..

The top three ranked teams by FDI for the next 5 GWs.

  1. Chelsea (44)
  2. Crystal Palace (44)
  3. Leicester (48)

Load up on….

Chelsea have the easiest fixtures leading up to Christmas with the next five games being Newcastle at home (GW15), West Ham away (GW16), Huddersfield away (GW17), Southampton home (GW18) and Everton away (GW19). Although they are on the road for 3/5 of the fixtures these games come against teams way in the bottom half of the prem. The FDI for the 5 games is the lowest of all 20 teams at 40. The key player picks would be Courtois with an overall value (Points scored per million spent) of 11.5 for the season, Alonso (9.9) & Hazard whose value is 3.8 for the last 5 GWS. One to maybe avoid could be Alvaro Morata who is only one yellow away from suspension.

Leicester FDI score of 48 aren’t too far behind and look a different team under Claude Puel. Confidence is high after beating Spurs at the King Power in Gameweek 14. A nice run of games sees them host Burnley (GW15), Newcastle away (GW16), Southampton away (GW17), Palace at home (GW18) before hosting Man Utd in  (GW19). The top picks for Value would be Kasper Shcmeichel (10.4 season Value), Mcguire (9.8), Mahrez (8.2) & maybe based on the last 3 game weeks as a pure differential Marc Albrighton (7.5).

How does it look at the other end of the FDI table?

The bottom three:

  1. Bournemouth (68)
  2. West Ham (68)
  3. Man Utd (64)

Be wary of…

A lot of FPL players will have loaded up with  Man Utd players following their flying start to the season. However, United have an extremely tough December. The next two game weeks in particular. Today they are away to Arsenal (GW15) followed by hosting bitter title rivals Man City in (GW16). The fixtures do ease up after that for their next 3 with Bournemouth at home (GW17) West Brom away (GW18) & Leicester away in (GW19).  3 tough games out of the five make it impossible to have too many united players. Players to look to ship out include Romelu Lukaku with a Fixture Adjusted Value of just 0.3 (Who is still owned by nearly 40% of FPL managers), Rashford (0.3) and Antonio Valencia (0.4).

Bournemouth and West Ham share the spoils for the worst FDI rating with a score of 68 for the next five gameweeks. The only West Ham player people seem to have is Joe Hart with 7.9% ownership – To those 7.9%, i would recommend giving him the boot. Hennessy from Palace could be a perfect replacement with their run of fixtures and at only £4.3M. West Ham face City away (GW15), Chelsea at home (GW16), Arsenal away (GW17), Stoke away (GW18) and Newcastle at home (GW19). Welcome back David Moyes – it’s not like you didn’t just get given an early Christmas present from your old pal Wayne Rooney.
