Sanchez or Mkhitaryan?

With the biggest swap deal since Ashley Cole and William Gallas traded London clubs back in 2006 now complete, it begs the question who will provide your FPL team with more value? Sanchez or Mkhitaryan?

First of all, we must look at the price. Sanchez currently costs a whopping 11.7m while Miki will cost 4.1m less at 7.6m. Will that different in price add up? Let’s take a look.

Miki has played a total of only 920 minutes this season in the premier league. He got off to a flying start with 5 assists in the first 3 fixtures. He has scored 57 points in the minutes he has played this season which works out at 5.6 points per 90 minutes. NOT BAD.

Sanchez, on the other hand, has played a total of 1510 minutes and has scored 97 points. That equates to a total of 5.8 points per 90 minutes. Not a drastic amount of difference. Sanchez has scored 7 goals and 5 assists compared to Miki’s 1 goal and 5 assists.

Points per 90minute per Million spent
Sanchez = 0.49
Miki = 0.75

Another talking point on this debate is competition for places. With Sanchez being a key part of Arsenal’s first XI you would assume that Miki would slot straight in. Alex Iwobi would most likely make way for Miki in what would be an exciting front 3 of Ozil, Miki & Lacazette.

Sanchez, however, might have more competition for places at United. Martial is making the front left position his own having scored in the last 3 games, they also have Rashford there, Lingard who has been in fine form and Pogba who has blossomed playing slightly further up the pitch. Mata may be the player to make way for Sanchez who could end up playing in the 10 role or on the right.

Overall, will both players be guaranteed starters? I think its fair to presume that they will be.

How is that fixture difficulty looking for both teams over the next 5 gameweeks?

Funnily enough, they both have the same Fixture Difficulty index over the next 3GW’s at 53.3, however, Arsenal has a slightly higher rating over 5 games at 60 compared to United’s 56.

Heres how the next 5 GW line up:

Arsenal – 25. Swansea (A) 26. Everton (H) 27. Spurs (A) 28. Man City (H) 29. Brighton (A)

Man Utd – 25. Spurs (A) 26. Huddersfield (H) 27. Newcastle (A) 28. Chelsea (H) 29. Palace (A)

Looking at that there isn’t much in it but I would say that United have the slight advantage in terms of fixtures.

So who to pick?

Overall on those 4 categories, it looks like Mkhitaryan should get the nod over Sanchez. What do you think?

Which one will you be drafting into your FPL side?
